🎯 Role
We're looking for a Design Engineer who lives at the intersection of design and code. You'll work directly with the founding team to prototype, build, and polish the platform experiences that power Memorang. This role is perfect for someone who thinks like a designer but builds like an engineer - or vice versa.
You'll own the UI layer of our AI platform: agent builders, knowledge graph editors, HITL evaluation tools, and collaborative authoring workflows. Your work shapes how humans and AI collaborate to build education from scratch - knowledge graphs → agents → apps.
🛠️ Sample projects could include…
Building a visual agent builder where users compose tutoring workflows from modular components - drag-and-drop canvas, node connections, and live preview.
Designing the parallel agent management interface - monitoring multiple agents running simultaneously, with status indicators, logs, and intervention controls.
Creating collaborative editing experiences for knowledge graphs - real-time cursors, conflict resolution, and multiplayer annotation.
Prototyping copilot interfaces that surface AI suggestions inline during content authoring, with accept/reject/edit interactions.
Building HITL evaluation tools where SMEs review AI-generated content, provide structured feedback, and trigger auto-fix loops.
Designing data annotation workflows with efficient keyboard shortcuts, bulk actions, and quality metrics dashboards.
🤝 You might be a fit if you…
Are equally comfortable in Figma and your code editor.
Have strong front-end engineering skills (TypeScript, React, Next.js, Tailwind).
Have shipped collaborative or real-time interfaces (editors, canvases, annotation tools).
Think in systems and can build reusable component frameworks that scale.
Are excited about human-AI collaboration and designing interfaces where both work together.
Nice to have
Experience building workflow editors, canvas-based tools, or node graph interfaces.
Background in design or formal design training.
Familiarity with real-time collaboration patterns (CRDTs, multiplayer).
Have been a founder or founding team member at a startup.
🎁 Benefits
Fully remote and async-friendly
Health insurance coverage
Monthly wellness stipend
Paid time off plus national holidays
Learning resources and professional development support
One-time home office setup stipend
Flexible working hours
💰 Compensation (California)
